Repointing
Services Edward Anthony Limited (Gun-Point) focuses mainly on repointing, we have been established and held a Gun-Point Licence for over 14 years. The Gunpoint system is not just for building applications, it can be used for canals, tunnels and paving where specialised mortars or low pressure grouts are required. Gunpoint has established repeat business for many organizations from County Councils & Local Authorities, to Major Contracts in the UK and we are now nominated contractors with nearly every Council across Greater Manchester and the North West. We also have a well established service with home owners, whether they need repairs carried out for mortgage purposes or simply to give their home a new look. Our basic tools have integrated dust guards with adjustable which, once set, ensure the constant depth of rake. The guards are linked to our own specially-designed dust extraction units which reduce the property and the operative from the mess and inconvenience normally associated with raking out. At the heart of our service is the patented Gunpoint mortar and pump gun. This low pressure high volume machine is light enough to go up on scaffold and small enough to go down tunnels. Its powerful electric motor can pump any standard mortar mix. As well as traditional lime mortars, the Gun-point machine accommodates all types of grades of gauged, masonry and cement mortars. We like to us local sands that match the colour and character of the original finish, but any colourants and other admixtures may be added to the mix as required. Structural Pointing Buildings of great age, particularly council dwellings (built before World War II) have been identified of having weak mortar, and often the only answer is to demolish and rebuild, this is obviously very expensive and inconvenient to the occupants who would normally have to move out of the property whilst this was done, but structural engineers wrote specifications on how to put back the structural integrity to these badly maintained buildings. We have been asked to implement these specifications, and have done so to meet the requirements of the structural engineers. We have completed several schemes across Greater Manchester with high recommendations from Main Contractors, on our ability to easily meet specifications and our ability to carry out the work consistently ahead of schedule with excellent Health and Safety Standards Cavity Wall Tie Installation Some years ago, if your property suffered wall tie failure, the only solution was to demolish the wall and rebuild it. This was again obviously very expensive and inconvenient to the occupants who would, like those suffering structural failure, have to move out of the property whilst this was done. Today thankfully, the problem can be rectified in hours rather than weeks without disturbing the occupants of the house. Firstly the property is surveyed by a trained and approved Edward Anthony Limited (Gun-Point) contractor, to assess the seriousness of the problem. Using a metal detector he/she will locate the existing ties and determine their type, establish the extent of the corrosion and whether or not they will have to be removed and/or replaced. A full written report will be available on request. Avoiding existing ties, a grid pattern is worked out for the instillation of the remedial cavity wall tie.
